A Vancouver woman is asking for the public’s help to find the man who she says punched her in the face earlier this week.
Speaking with Global News, she says she was in the vehicle with her boyfriend when they accidentally drove into a large bike lane near False Creek Elementary.
The woman, who doesn’t want to be identified, says the cyclist parked his bike in front of the car and they assumed he was a police officer.
“We were driving pretty slowly, looking around trying to figure out how to get out of there. And he came up and parked his bike and just kind of glared in. And so I just assumed that he was a cop and we were getting a ticket.”
She says after she got out of the car an argument ensued, in which the man threatened to hit her.
“I kind of backed off and looked at him dead in the eye and was like, ‘You just said you’re going to hit a woman.’ And then as I turned to walk away, he just cold clocked me in the face. “
With quick thinking, the victim says she managed to get a photograph of the cyclist.
“My boyfriend hopped out of the vehicle and I just said, ‘Take his photo.’ And actually in the picture, we kind of look like we’re wrestling but I’m actually holding him so we can get the photo.”
The man then fled the scene.
“He just left his very expensive bicycle and ran off,” she says.
She ended up with 10 stitches on her upper lip and is worried about retaliation from the alleged attacker.
Vancouver Police say they are investigating the incident.
