Richmond RCMP say it has arrested a suspect in connection to a number of thefts and other property-related offences.
30-year-old Jason Edward Keyes faces 12 charges, including two counts of break and enter, two counts of identity theft, and one count of mail theft.
Mounties say it started on April 21 when officers were conducting surveillance after reports that someone was stealing mail.
When officers identified their suspect, they say he backed an allegedly stolen SUV over a patrol bicycle before fleeing the scene.
Cpl. Simon Lee with Richmond RCMP says the action led to officers redoubling their efforts.
“This incident could have caused serious or life-threatening injuries to one or more of our officers, not to mention innocent bystanders. This coupled with the damage to police property while fleeing, heightened our focus and purpose.”

The suspect later resurfaced on May 11, allegedly driving a different stolen vehicle, and was arrested without incident.
Officers recovered stolen mail, drugs, and identification documents.
He’s scheduled to appear in court later this month.
