Less than 24 hours after the BC Liberals had filed requests for recounts in the ridings of Courtenay-Comox and Maple Ridge-Mission, the BC NDP have followed suit.
The party has filed formal requests for the ridings of Coquitlam-Burke Mountain, Vancouver-False Creek, and Richmond-Queensborough.
In all three ridings, they had been decided by a margin of 600 votes or less.
Coquitlam-Burke Mountain was the closest, where Joan Isaacs with the Liberals ousted the incumbent Jodie Wickens with the NDP by just more than 170 votes.
According to Elections BC, a candidate can request a recount of ballots considered at initial count if the difference between the top two candidates is 100 votes or fewer, or if there is evidence of possible errors made in the acceptance or rejection of ballots or the number of votes a candidate received as recorded on the ballot account.
The NDP had until Monday to file their recount requests.
