Vancouver’s former Chief Housing Officer is getting a hefty severance.
In an e-mail, the City says Mukhtar Latif’s severance pay will amount to the tune of $261,170 this year, after being fired in January.
They say his severance is the equivalent to one year of his base salary.
The city never explained why Latif was let go, at the time he was also the CEO of the Vancouver Affordable Housing Agency.
A list provided by the city shows it paid out a little over $1-million in severance packages to 17 employees in 2016, half going to former Chief Information Officer Mark McDonald and former Acting General Manager of Community Services Teresa Hartman.
