RCMP are investigating after a man was allegedly assaulted during his stay at a downtown hotel in Nanaimo.
The incident took place Thursday morning. Police say the victim met another man and went together to a hotel room where he was reportedly tied up, beaten, and robbed.
Officers say the victim suffered multiple injuries and was taken to hospital where he required surgery.
The suspect is described by police as a Caucasian male, around 30-years-old, with a medium build, bald head with a goatee and moustache, and wearing a white t-shirt, dark jeans and flip flops.
Police are investigating if the crime was hate-motivated.
