Four Mission RCMP officers are recovering after a suspect driving a stolen vehicle rammed into several police cruisers on a busy stretch of road Tuesday afternoon.
Cst. James Mason says the incident happened around 5 p.m. on Lougheed Highway after the driver failed to pull over at an initial traffic stop.
“A secondary traffic stop was conducted along the Lougheed Highway involving the driver of the SUV ramming stationary police vehicles as he attempted to evade police.”
Mason says the driver, who is known to police, took off from the stolen car and into a wooded area before a K-9 unit tracked him down.
Constable James Mason says with other drivers in the area, the situation could have been worse.
“We’re pleased we were able to respond in the manner which we did with the minimal impact that occurred.”
The officers suffered minor injuries, but are expected to be okay.
