Two people have serious injuries after an apartment caught fire in Burnaby.
Deputy Fire Chief Chris Bowcock says crews were called to Grange Street and McMurray Avenue just after nine o’clock Monday night.
“Upon arrival at the scene, fire was visible from the seventh floor, fire crews initiated fire attack and treatment of two civilians with serious burns.”
“Fire brought a second alarm, which brings 30 firefighters and nine fire apparatuses to the scene.”
He explains the building has between 15 – 22 floors and a large number of people are displaced
“Entire building, so you can imagine a high rise building… I would assess in the hundreds.”
He says the department is now working with the RCMP.
