The North Vancouver RCMP is trying to track down the owner of a large amount of cash and valuable coins.
It comes after police seized the haul from a man of no fixed address who was also packing a pair of bolt cutters.
Investigators say they detained the man late at night in the Lower Lonsdale area two weeks ago after he was observed acting suspiciously.
Police say the 21-year-old wasn’t able to come up with a plausible explanation for how he came by the cash, or the collection of valuable international coins.
The RCMP says it’s now looking to reunite the money with its rightful owner.
But for anyone else who thinks they might be able to cash in, be warned: You’ll have to provide specific details about the coins and the amount of cash in question.
The suspected thief may yet face charges of possession of stolen property.
