Coquitlam’s mayor says help is coming for all those commuters frustrated with gridlock on the Brunette overpass across Highway One.
Richard Stewart says he’s hopeful an agreement can be reached from recommendations put forward by a joint-city task force.
“Coquitlam and New Westminster have been working together on a joint task group to identify some solutions. In addition to the solutions, the province put forward last year we actually have a couple of ideas we have put back to the Ministry.”
But he says all solutions include a new overpass.
“I have a lot of optimism that this time we can actually come to a conclusion that will serve both communities.”
Stewart says Coquitlam residents have a tough time getting to Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster, even in emergencies, because of the bottleneck created by the overpass.
