Expect it to be a windy day along the South Coast on Friday, with intense, low-pressure coming from the Oregon and Washington area.
Global News meteorologist Mark Madryga says that system is expected to arrive off the coast of Vancouver Island later in the afternoon, with wind gusts also picking up in the Lower Mainland.
“We’re looking at nearly 60 km/h gusts this afternoon, possibly up to 80 near the water. That will impact, certainly, the ferry traffic, along with possible power outages later today and tonight.”
It’ll also be wet.
“Rain more on that off today, but the wind will be significant later.”
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley – west, including Abbotsford, and there is a wind warning in effect for Howe Sound.
