The newest Mac n’ Cheese special edition shape has been chosen by a seven-year-old Nanaimo boy who made international headlines with his love for Kraft Dinner.
Everett, who has autism, shot to fame when his love for Star Wars KD went viral.
Because of his sensitivity to shapes and colours, Everett is very specific about what he’ll eat – a major problem for his family, until they discovered his love of the particular pasta.
When stores ran out, his father’s plea for more went viral. That’s when members of the public and KD rallied together to send the family hundreds of Star Wars KD boxes.
His story even caught the attention of Star Trek actor William Shatner, and Kraft offered to let Everett pick the next shape.
Now, in a video posted to Facebook, Everett has made the call.
Out of five choices including Trolls and Spongebob Squarepants, Everett Botwright showed the most excitement for Minions.
“You want Minions?” His father Reed can be heard asking from behind the camera.
“Yeah!” Everett replies enthusiastically.
“Are you sure about that?”
“Okay, Minions it is,” Reed says, chuckling.
Reed says he had an inkling the boy would opt for the popular one-eyed characters.
“I had an idea, and I wanted to make sure he wasn’t distracted when he was making that decision, but it could have gone any way.”
He says regardless of how the decision shook out, he’s hopeful it will keep his son eating.
“It’s a good likelihood, he’ll at least be enthused enough to try it.”
