Vancouver’s bike share system is shifting into second gear, while a similar program across the border is putting on the brakes.
General Manager Mia Kohout says Mobi is planning to expand to 1500 bikes at 150 stations by the end of phase one.
“We are putting stations still within our service area which is the Downtown peninsula, Main Street, Arbutus and 16th is the rough boundary.”
Seattle’s Pronto system is coming to a stop after two and a half years in the Emerald City.
According to Kohout, Mobi has twice as many rides as Pronto, but also has twice as many bikes and stations.
Kohout was a guest on CKNW’s Steele and Drex.
