The owner of the BC Lions has confirmed the rumour that the club is for sale.
David Braley says in an interview on the team website that there are several people interested in buying the team and he’s exploring his options.
“A sale could occur this year, next year, or the year after. I’m under no duress to sell it, it doesn’t owe any money or anything, everything is paid for, we’re in good shape financially.”

Braley says his ideal buyer is a local owner, but adds he was also looking for a local owner 20 years ago when he bought the club.
The 75-year-old has been battling a myriad of health concerns and spent three months in hospital last year.
“I don’t want to be sitting here at 95, shaking, owning the franchise.”
He bought the club back in 1997.
Braley promises any suitors will ensure the future of the club.
