We’re could be on the way to setting a new record for the most rain ever in the month of March in Vancouver.
Global BC meteorologist Mark Madryga has been adding up the numbers.
“Well March is typically quite a showery month but this March has been outrageously wet, double the average precipitation so far at the Vancouver Airport. We’ve had rain or snow on 26 out of the first 29 days of the month of March, which is pushing toward a record as well. And the total amount of precipitation, third in the ranking over the last 81 years. The only wetter March’s so far were in 2007 and 1997.”
YVR has recorded nearly 200 millimetres of precipitation in the month, 195 of whch was rain.
The average for the month of March at YVR is about 115 millimetres.
The record high of 232 millimetres was set in 1997 and the second highest of 214 millimetres was set in 2007.
