A four-year jail sentence has been handed down to a Squamish karate instructor after he was charged with one count of sexual interference of a person under 16, and one count of sexual assault.
A former instructor at the Seiwa Kai Squamish Karate Association, 40-year-old Shane Anthony Morrow was released on bail in December 2015.
As part of the release, Morrow was banned from holding any more classes at the Brennan Park Recreation Centre.
Appearing in a North Vancouver court in May 2016, Morrow pled guilty to a charge of sexual assault.
As part of his sentence, Morrow is also subject to a 10-year child protection prohibition ban, a 10-year firearm ban, and must submit a DNA sample.
Due to child protection laws, the name of his victim will remain unreleased, and a third charge was placed under a publication ban.
