The B.C. Liberals are going to be refunding nearly $100,000 in prohibited political donations.
An internal investigation by the Liberals has found there were 43 indirect donations to the party since 2011 where individuals were reimbursed by their employers – which is not allowed under the Elections Act.
In an e-mail to CKNW, the Liberals say they are refunding $92,874.36 to the donors where donations were made by personal credit cards.
The party adds that 30 people have come forward claiming the mistakes were clerical errors noting the individual was listed as a donor instead of the organization.
The Liberals are chalking up most of the mistakes to online contributions and they have since made significant adjustments to their online donation process.
The NDP returned two indirect donations totalling around $10,000 dollars last week.
Elections B.C. has handed its investigation into indirect political donations over to the RCMP.
