It’s been less than a month since U.S. President Donald Trump’s two sons cut the red ribbon to open Trump International Hotel and Tower in Vancouver.
Now, there’s a new legal battle between one of the tower’s construction companies and developer.
Urban One Construction Management is suing Holborn Developments, another business and several owners of strata lots at the tower on West Georgia St.
The lawsuit claims that the defendant has not paid over $680,000 in invoices.
In a statement sent to CKNW, Urban One Construction says “Urban One has never previously filed a lawsuit against anyone. Unfortunately, in this exceptional circumstance, litigation is our only option. Prior to filing of this lawsuit, Urban One worked hard to negotiate a settlement with Holborn Developments (West Georgia) Ltd., the developer of Trump International Hotel & Tower Vancouver. Unfortunately, the negotiations were unsuccessful.”
CKNW has reached out to Holborn Developments for comment.
According to Business Vancouver, a different construction company is suing Holborn-related companies and a contractor, and is now seeking a lien against the property.
None of these allegations has been proven in court.
