The B.C. Coroners Service says there are 102 suspected illicit drug overdoses in B.C. for February of 2017.
This is a 73 per cent increase when comparing to February of 2016.
In January, there were 116 deaths.
That would bring this year’s total to date to 218 once the numbers are verified.
2016 was the worst year on record for illicit drug overdoses, with 922 lives lost. Many of these involved fentanyl.
More to come.
