The man charged in connection to the death of Amanda Todd has been sentenced in The Netherlands.
Aydin Coban has been found guilty, and will serve a sentence of 10 years and 243 days.
Coban was charged in multiple extortion and child porn cases separate from Amanda Todd’s case.
Prosecutors initially asked for the maximum sentence of 11 years.
Meanwhile, Amanda’s mom Carol Todd, says there’s a feeling of relief but the journey isn’t over.
“I can only say that the pit in my stomach has only started to get smaller.”
Next month a Supreme Court in the Netherlands will decide if Coban will be extradited to Canada to face five separate charges in relation to Amanda’s case.
“To have him eventually come here and face trial would be a good thing, Amanda’s a Canadian girl, I would especially like it to happen on Canadian Soil.”
In B.C. Coban faces several charges including extortion and possession of child pornography.
