The B.C. NDP says it’s found proof of improper political donations, as the RCMP investigates campaign fundraising among parties.
B.C. NDP Deputy Director Glen Sanford says the party found two records in 2015 of indirect political donations, totalling about $10,000.
That money has been returned.
“Neither of these cases was a lobbyist. It was employees from a union and a company. So, one to the United Food and Commercial Workers Union for $7,250 and one to Pacific Northwest LNG for $1,500.”
Sanford says the party has looked at records dating back to 2013, and there are two other questionable donations.
“There are two more where we aren’t certain what the status is, only two. And we’ve contacted the donors but haven’t heard back yet.”
He says the party has contacted the donors to see if they were reimbursed.
The B.C. Liberals say the party is still reviewing if it has received any indirect political contributions.
