West Shore Mounties continue to search for a suspect after a woman was sexually assaulted and beaten along the popular Galloping Goose trail.
After hearing about the assault, some area residents are left shaken up and even reconsidering their route on the Vancouver Island path.
It was around 10:40 p.m. on Sunday when police got a call from family members of a 32-year-old woman who they say was out for a run before she was beaten and sexually assaulted.
She was treated on scene and taken to hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The assault happened near Pickford Road, and today police are back on scene looking for clues.
As of now, there is no suspect description.
There have been two other similar incidents over the past few years in that area, in both cases young women out jogging were attacked and sexually assaulted.
In June of 2014, a man was arrested after a woman in her 20s was sexually assaulted near the trail.
In March of 2015, a 23-year-old woman was sexually assaulted by a stranger while jogging near Glen Lake park, but no arrest was ever made in that case.
