“It’s not enough,” that’s what BC NDP leader John Horgan is saying on the news Premier Christy Clark is set to commission a panel to review political donations after the May 9 election.
Horgan says if it came to it, government could ban big donations immediately.
“There’s a bill on the order paper, it’s been there for several weeks, in my name. I’d be happy if the Premier called it up for debate, we could pass it in a day.”
He says the NDP has tabled a bill to ban big money and cap individual donations six times since 2013.
“She’s come up a day late, and several tens of millions of dollars short.”
Last week Elections BC handed over an investigation to the RCMP on indirect political donations after news came to light the BC Liberals accepted donations from lobbyists on behalf of corporations.
