The Women’s Health Research Institute is hosting a panel Wednesday night alongside BC Women’s Hospital to try and educate the public on health advancements.
The institute’s Executive Director says topics like sexual and mental health are considered taboo, but International Women’s Day opened up an opportunity for a public forum.
“There are also areas where the science is continually advancing and changes. And what we know is that the majority of Canadians are not health literate which means that they’re not aware of the most up-to-date and informative information that could improve their health.”
Dr. Lori Brotto says some of the topics are gynecologic exams and the HPV vaccine, breast screenings, promoting mental wellness and sexual health in women.
The event takes place at the Jewish Community Centre.
