Tuesday night at Rogers Arena Montreal won 2-1, in overtime.
Paul Byron scored in overtime to give the Habs the victory.
Torrey Mitchell scored in the first period for the visitors, while Vancouver’s Michael Chaput tied the game midway through the third period.
Canuck goalie Ryan Miller had to be sharp, making 36 saves on the night.
After being traded last week from San Jose, Nikolay Goldobin made his home debut for Vancouver.
The Canucks next play Thursday, when they host the N.Y. Islanders.
