Investigators are trying to piece together what happened to a 73-year-old man and a 66-year-old woman found dead in White Rock.
The pair was found Tuesday just after 4:30 p.m. in a home on Finlay Street near Cliff Avenue after a friend went to check in on them.
Constable Chantal Sears with White Rock RCMP says while the Serious Crime Unit is involved, the death is not considered suspicious at this time.
“At this time it’s being investigated as natural causes. The toxicology tests are being performed. There’s nothing to indicate suicide at this time. It just seems like a really tragic situation.”
Fortis B.C. was also called to the home, and police say investigators initially thought they smelled gas at the scene.
However they now believe the gas theory to be unfounded, following an inspection by the Fire Department that found no evidence of it in the home.
The coroner has not been ablet o determine a cause of death, but believes the pair died Friday night or Saturday.
