Convicted triple murderer Douglas Garland is back in hospital after a second jailhouse beating.
Prison sources tell Global News that Garland was attacked at Edmonton Institution, a federal maximum security prison, last night.
Garland was found unresponsive, but still breathing, in his cell around 9 p.m.
Garland was convicted last month on three counts of first-degree murder for killing a Calgary couple and their grandson.
The court heard he had kidnapped, tortured, killed and dismembered Alvin and Kathy Likness, along with five-year-old Nathan O’Brien over a soured business relationship.
He suffered his first in-custody beating the day of the conviction at the Calgary Remand Centre, and was rushed to hospital.
Four men were charged in the assault.
