One person is dead after an early morning house fire in Coquitlam.
Fire chief Wade Pierlot says crews were called to the home on Gatensbury Street near Winslow Avenue just after 8 a.m. – arriving to see flames shooting from the windows.
“They made a quick, aggressive interior attack, they knocked down the fire, and subsequently in their search patterns they did locate an occupant who was deceased. And at that time of course the scene is turned over to RCMP.”
Pierlot says fortunately, no one else was hurt.
“There was another occupant who was next door at the neighbour’s house, and we’re not sure if that occupant was the one who called 9-1-1. We also believe there may have been a son who lives at the property as well, but they were out of the home when we arrived.”
No word yet on what sparked the flames.
