Vancouver Coastal Health is warning passengers who were travelling between China and Vancouver and from Vancouver and Edmonton that they may have been exposed to measles last week.
In a statement, VCH says China Airlines Flight C132 to Vancouver and WestJet flight 186 to Edmonton on February 24th were affected, and anyone in the Immigration/Customs and Domestic terminals between 6:10 p.m. and midnight should be extra vigilant.
Dr. Reka Gustafson with Vancouver Coastal Health says while it’s not a measles outbreak, she says it’s a very highly infectious disease.
“But because measles is so infectious, if there’s even one or two people who aren’t protected then they will be the ones who actually come down with measles.”
Gustafson says anyone born after 1970 without a measles vaccination to watch for symptoms such as fever, cough, runny nose, pink-eye and a red rash.
