New Westminster Police are investigating what appears to be the attempted theft of a paddle-wheeler tour boat.
Officers were called just after 2 p.m. to the south side of River Road on Thursday after reports that a man had broken into the tour boat and started the engine.
He then allegedly fired a flare at two witnesses on a nearby boat.
No one was injured, but a 33-year-old man from William’s Lake has since been arrested and charged with a number of offenses, including carrying marine flares for a dangerous purpose and attempted theft of a motor vessel.
Police are asking anyone with further information to come forward.
