There were noisy protests and heated arguments as members of Donald Trump’s family cut the red ribbon on the newest addition to Vancouver’s skyline.
Donald Trump Junior and Eric Trump were in the city to celebrate the completion the Trump Tower on West Georgia, a 360-million-dollar hotel and condo development.
While hundreds gathered outside of Vancouver’s Trump Tower to voice their opposition, another group protested outside the U.S. Consulate.
Several dozen people walked through the streets of Downtown Vancouver chanting that President Donald Trump has got to go.
Resist 4 Peace March organizer Nora Fadel says she set up the protest because of how divisive Trump has been.
“I want the community to be able to come together against hatred and aggression and surround it by peace and love and show that you can try and put this negativity in our city, but we’re not going to allow it and we don’t need to fight back to get it.”
There was heavy police and security presence, as well as some Trump supporters wearing “Make America Great Again” hats, but the protest remained peaceful.
The march started at Jack Poole Plaza.
About a hundred people attended the march and a couple hundred protesters were outside of Trump tower.
