A 47-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder, in what police are calling a deadly domestic dispute.
Cpl Meghan Foster with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says police were called to the home on 18th Avenue yesterday to reports of a fight.
“When members of the Burnaby RCMP arrived, they located a victim who was deceased from injuries received from an altercation.”
Foster says Parveen Maan was arrested at the scene.
Investigators are staying tight-lipped about his wife, 45-year-old wife Parveen Kumari Maan’s, cause of death.
Foster says the couple had two children, aged 11 and 13, who weren’t home at the time of the killing. The kids are now staying with other family members.
“The couple were parents to two young kids who were not at home at the time of the dispute. The next of kin have been notified and are currently in the care of other family members.”
Maan remains in police custody, and his next court appearance is scheduled for March 10.
Police are expected to provide more details about the case at 1:30 p.m.
