A Victoria-area pot shop has been shut down yet again by RCMP, just days after Langford’s mayor called on the federal government to speed up its pot program.
RCMP say two people were arrested after West Shore RCMP executed a search warrant at the Medical Marijuana Dispensary.
They seized an “undisclosed amount of marijuana products” after the store re-opened illegally over the weekend.
Mayor Stew Young said Monday that while he’s frustrated with local shop owners, Ottawa seems to be dragging its feet on the issue of marijuana regulation.
“You can’t wait another two or three years on an election promise that people thought that the Liberals and Trudeau were going to change this and legalize marijuana. And then nothing happens. It puts a real onus on municipalities to try and manage this, and we’re just not experts.”
Meanwhile in Vancouver, local dispensaries continue to be ticketed, but the City has only collected a fraction of the fees.
Some shop owners who are following the rules say it’s frustrating to see unlicensed shops staying open without consequence.
