A new poll from the Angus Reid Institute shows Canadians are all of a sudden showing more interest over NAFTA renegotiations.
NAFTA isn’t gone, but it’s on the block for renegotiations.
“What a difference six-to-eight months and a change in administration makes.”
Angus Reid Institute Executive Director Shachi Kurl says Canadians have gone from feeling ambivalent over the trade pact with the US and Mexico, to feeling great about it.
“Last summer at the time of the Three Amigos summit in Ottawa, just one-in-four thought that this trade agreement had been of benefit to the country. Fast forward to this year, early in the New Year, Canadians are saying nearly half believes it has been a benefit to the country.”
One-in-four people said NAFTA should be strengthened and expanded.
