Hundreds of people gathered today at Robson Square to get married, witness weddings, and support their loved ones.
Co-organizer of Love in the Square with Pop-Up Weddings Nicole Vanselow says at least 71 couples signed up to get married for free.
She said she loves to give back to people who are in love who can’t afford the high costs of weddings.
“It’ll cost about $100, stop by the insurance place in London Drugs, have your I.D., get your marriage license and then come and show up and tie the knot.”
One couple even got married today wearing blue and white Vancouver Canucks jerseys.
“Kayla my wife now, wow that sounds different. She brought it up last year, and we’ve known about it for a couple years now and we booked a venue, and were planning that, and we just kinda said… let’s do something else.”
They say they will be celebrating by watching the game today.
