It’s been a busy day for the Vancouver Coast Guard at English Bay.
Strong winds forced anchors to break off vessels causing them to drift towards shore, one running aground onto Sunset Beach.
Four others have been safely towed to False Creek.
Rescue Coordinator Colin Henthorne says winds of up to 64 km/h blew in, causing some anchor lines to break off five boats.
“Had at least two boats go ashore, and some others in very close danger of going ashore, one with a person on board that was about to abandon his vessel and go into the water.”
Henthorne says the situation is being monitored, he says so far nobody has been hurt.
