With the provincial election fast approaching The Greater Vancouver Board of Trade is out with a series of recommendations on key issues parties should focus on.
The board’s president Iain Black says it’s no surprise Transit and Transportation are number one on the list.
He says moving goods within the region plays a key role in the economy but Greater Vancouver also has a role in the overall success of the country.
“In terms of taking goods and services that have originated elsewhere in Canada and bringing them through the west coast and getting them on ships to go elsewhere, we are going to have the need for things like the replacement of the Massey tunnel and to move people around in our region using things like the rapid transit expansion whether that’s Surrey and Langley or the Millennium line expansion.”
Rounding out the top three list of top ten ranked issues are housing affordability and cost of living.
Another key issue mentioned by the Board is affordable child care, saying the government needs to find ways to increase supply and access to affordable care.
