NDP MP Jenny Kwan wants an emergency debate in Parliament on what she calls the “alarming actions” taken by U.S. President Donald Trump.
The federal NDP critic for immigration, citizenship and refugees is calling the executive order “a deeply distressing reincarnation of race-based immigration policies not seen since the Second World War.”
In a letter to House Speaker Geoff Regan, Kwan says she’ll seek to leave Monday to propose an emergency debate.
To the many constits who written to me about this disgusting ban: I hear you & am working hard to see issue raised tmr in HoC emerg debate

Kwan says a ban based on race, religion, or origin cannot be tolerated.
She says the ban will carry disastrous implications, especially for those seeking asylum and fleeing persecution.
