Expect minimal traffic delays on the Alex Fraser Bridge starting this weekend.
The Ministry of Transportation says it will be dropping snow clearing cables – similar to those used on the Port Mann Bridge.
Testing is being done to see if the system would work on the Alex Fraser.
Cables will drop at night, the northbound slow lane and side walk will be closed starting this Sunday to Thursday from 10pm to 4am.
In previous years, snow cables on the Port Mann Bridge have caused some trouble, ‘ice bombs’ dropping from the top of the bridge, often landed on cars causing windshield damage.
