A nine-year-old New Westminster girl has been safely returned to Canada after allegedly being abducted by her mother and taken across the border.
The incident led to an amber alert being issued in Washington State.
New Westminster Police say officials with the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol along with the Bellingham Police tracked Wilma Estrada’s car down at a hotel last night.
Police say her daughter was collected safely and brought to the border where NWPD and Ministry of Children and Family Development officials took charge.
Investigators say the girl was allegedly taken yesterday after a visit with her mother, who does not have custody and violated a court order issued in November.
