A house fire early Saturday morning in Surrey has reportedly left up to ten people without a home.
It happened at around 2 a.m. in the 9600 block of 139th St.
Global News spoke with Rainier Casido, a man who awoke to screams that his home was on fire.
“I woke up and I thought I was dreaming, I was – ‘what’s going on?’ I opened the door and just felt this heat coming from another room, and then I just saw the smoke and some broken glass. My instinct was just get my wallet, get my phone, get my laptop, and I just… everything else is in there. I’m originally from Ontario so all my stuff, probably memories from Ontario, are unfortunately lying in there.”
He says there were a number of people living in the house, including him.
“There’s a family with a young child, and two elderly folks, two seniors and a couple of tenants so it was a lot of people in the house. they’re all standing right there distraught… crying and… a bit of trauma.”
The exact number of people impacted is not yet known.
