A Coquitlam middle school teacher is being ordered to take conduct courses after several students came forward about his open behavior.
Dana Lum has agreed to complete a “Reinforcing Respectful Professional Boundaries” course after a consent resolution agreement with the BC Commissioner for Teacher Regulation.
The Coquitlam School District suspended Lum in January 2015 while he was under investigation for a number of reports where he touched the shoulders and necks of students, hugged them, and in some cases told them he loved them.
He was later suspended without pay for 20 days in June of that year.
Lum could lose his teaching qualifications if he fails to complete the course.
