In the video a voice is heard saying that the dog won’t calm down until he gets in the water, adding “…just got to throw him in.”
By the end, the dog is seen struggling to swim and goes under. People rush to help the dog.
Animal Justice says they’ve filed complaints with the Winnipeg Humane Society, the Chief Veterinary Office of Manitoba and the Winnipeg Police.
“It’s not simply a crime to hit or physically harm an animal, but it’s also an offence to inflict psychological suffering as well. And what we saw in this tape is a dog, a terrified German Shepherd-type dog, being repeatedly forced to go into a pool of water that was violently swirling and he clearly did not want to go in,” says Executive Director Camille Labchuk.
Parts of the movie were filmed in Winnipeg and Manitoba.
Animal Justice says the video was taken in November 2015.
