Kevin O’Leary is expected to enter the race for Conservative Party leadership come Wednesday, Global News reports.
Some have suggested that O’Leary has delayed officially announcing his leadership bid until after Tuesday’s French debate.
The businessman and TV personality first expressed interest in running last winter, putting most of his focus on economic issues.
Since then, O’Leary has launched the site OlearyforCanada.ca to “mobilize public support.”
The website also listed his exploratory committee: a team of advisors including former Ontario Premier Mike Harris and former Senator Marjory LeBreton.
His bid for leadership will be among 13 others who are in the running to fill Stephen Harper’s shoes.
The winner will be chosen May 27.
