A dental assistant for a pediatric office in Vancouver says she’s sticking to her word.
A GoFundMe page has been set up for a little boy who needs extensive surgery.
Angelika Rohraff is trying to raise up to $5,000 for a 5-year-old boy because his mother can’t afford to pay for dental surgery.
She said the last time she saw the little boy was two years ago, when he already needed work done.
Now, the extent of his needs have reached new heights.
“Crowns on his front teeth, extractions, spacers to be put in, you name it, he needs it,” Rohraff says, which could cost between $3,500 and $5,000.
She says the reason why the surgery is so expensive is because they need go through a private facility.
“He’s not eligible for BC Children’s, so we have to go the private route, always tends to be more expensive,” she says.
Rohraff says she felt a connection with the boy’s mom.
“I gave mom my word at the very end of the appointment that I would do anything I could to help her out with it,” she says. “I just want to get it out there and get this done for the mother, so she doesn’t have to worry about it.”
Rohraff says any money left over will be used as credit on his account at the pediatric office.
So far, over $800 has been raised.
