A 16-year-old boy is facing a pair of attempted murder charges, for two shootings just one month apart last year.
Burnaby RCMP say the first report came back in November when they were called to a 19-year-old man suffering multiple gunshot wounds near 14th Ave. and Griffiths Way.
They identified a suspect and issued a warrant.
But one month later, the suspect allegedly struck again – this time shooting a 42-year-old woman on Hermon Dr. near Lougheed and Boundary Rd.
She was rushed to hospital and is still receiving treatment for her injuries.
Investigators say when the youth was taken into custody Friday, he was found with a loaded handgun.
Once this suspect had been identified, our officers worked hard to locate him. His actions were obviously of concern to the police, so it was critical for us to find him and arrest him as soon as possible, said Burnaby RCMP Inspector Sanjaya Wijayakoon in a release.
He’s due in Vancouver Provincial Youth Court on Thursday.
