Some Vancouverites may be disappointed that Trout Lake has been closed today due to warm temperatures, but there is one frozen lake still popular among skaters.
Coquitlam city councillor Teri Towner says Como Lake is still safe.

She said she went the first day it opened, and several times since.
“Teen girls showing off their figure skating skills, and tons of mini hockey games in made ice rinks, other people just walking on the ice, and parents pulling their kids in little sleds.”
Towner says with the closure of Trout Lake, she expects Como Lake will get a lot busier.
“I do encourage people to take advantage of it while it’s still safe and still open for skating.”

She says the city will be taking measures to ensure safety and will continue to monitor the lake.
