Sunday’s 74th Annual Golden Globes went off with only minor glitches.
There were multiple errors referring to the film ‘Hidden Figures’ as ‘Hidden Fences’.
Jimmy Fallon’s teleprompter also cut out, prompting him to ad-lib a joke about Mariah Carey’s New Years Eve performance.
As for winners, ‘La La Land’ won in every category it was nominated – Best Picture: Musical or Comedy, Best Original Song, Best Original Score (to Justin Hurwitz), Best Screenplay and Best Director (both to Damien Chazelle), as well as best Actor (Ryan Gosling) and Actress (Emma Stone); making it the most awarded film in Golden Globes history.
‘Moonlight’ won for Best Motion Picture: Drama.
Best Actor: Drama went to Casey Affleck for his role in ‘Manchester by the Sea’.
Best Actress: Drama was awarded to Isabelle Huppert for her role in ‘Elle’.
‘Elle’ also won for Best Foreign Language film.
Viola Davis won Best Supporting Actress for her role in ‘Fences’, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson won Best Supporting Actor.
The award for Best Animated Film went to ‘Zootopia’.
Meryl Streep was also awarded the Cecil B. Demille Award, and made quite a political statement during her speech.
She referenced the President Elect’s behaviour on the campaign trail, stating, “Disrespect invites disrespect.”
She closed her remarks with a quote from Carrie Fisher, “Take your broken heart, make it into art.”
