If you want to get your hands on free salt, the City of Vancouver is sending dump trucks to 10 fire halls Friday.
Jonathan Gormick with Vancouver Fire and Rescue is reminding people to stay orderly, and limit yourself to one SMALL bucket.
He says with more snow forecasted, and current icy conditions, deliveries will be made into next week if needed.
“Deliveries…the first would be between 8 a.m. and noon. The second would be between 12 p,m, and 4 p.m. Just because of the nature of delivering to the 10 locations spread across the city, we’re not able to give more exact time frames thAn that. We would rather give a wider time frame than giving an exact time frame and miss it, and have our customers even more disappointed.”
On Thursday, some piles vanished in minutes.
Gormick says the city will send staff to busy fire halls, making sure line-ups stay orderly, and to make sure people stick to the one bucket rule.
The City will continue doling out salt until demand decreases, or stores are stocked with more inventory.
