A Maple Ridge boy hasn’t been able to go back to school this year, because of the ice on the road.
11-year-old Aidan Kelly has Spinal Muscular Atrophy and is confined to a wheelchair.
He’s been studying at home with his single dad Owen.
They live an apartment close to the school because his father doesn’t own a vehicle.
They spoke to Global News.
“It’s just depressing that I have to miss two days of school.”
“It just sucks, because there’s nothing I can do. Even if I was out here with a pitchfork, it wouldn’t work. Just… yeah, I don’t know. Just feels like we’ve been ignored.”
Global called the city to inquire about the roads, and they sent trucks to salt and sand them right away.
However, it’s currently too difficult to push Aidans wheelchair to the road.
