It’s another indication of the slowing housing market in Metro Vancouver.
The latest numbers from the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver show sales in December were down 22 per cent from November and 39 per cent from December a year ago.
New listings were down 58 per cent from November, and 35 per cent from December a year ago.
“Christmas time people take the house off the market, they’re busy doing other things and their not actually active in the market. People take holidays, we realtors take some holidays so it’s traditionally been a much slower month of the year,” says Dan Morrison, President of the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver.
For the year overall, the Board says home sales dropped 5.6 per cent in 2016, when comparing with 2015’s numbers.
